OilSplats studio was designed for the purpose of bringing technology and art together in an effort to create a virtual art gallery. This virtual gallery is open to any who has the ability to explore the Internet. You are welcomed to visit, enjoy the artwork that I have created, make comments either via e-mail or my guest book and, if desired, purchase.

To talk about OilSplats is to talk about me, Laurie Bouchard. I am a middle aged  female artist, of French and Swedish decent, born on the eastern coast of the United States of America situated in a small town in Connecticut . Both parents having come from Northern Maine, it was not long before our family moved back north. I now reside in Presque Isle Maine.

I dappled with art growing up but it was not until I picked up a paint brush as a young adult that I fell in love with the freedom of expression that is art . Initially I tried acrylic as that was what my sister used. I didn't like the way it handled and it dried to fast. Someone suggested oil, I tried it and haven't stopped painting. I am continually developing and growing as an artist. Although I feel that I have found my style I know that to improve will be to experiment and change. I do not have an art degree but have taken many art courses during my four years of college.

The name OilSplats was a creation between my mother and myself. I wanted a name that was original, somehow  encompassing the fact that I paint with oils and I have a style that applies generous layers of paints upon each painting. Oilglob was... well didn't fit the picture. My wonderful mother suggested OilSplats and the name was created.

I secured the name OilSplats as a dot com and proceeded to create the pages that you see here. During this time I came across multitudes of other artists using the WWW, through a wonderful site WWW.wetcanvas.com as well as many other sites. I have placed some links on my links page. If you are interested in exchanging links please e-mail me.

If interested in the Presque Isle area visit Crownofmain.com  which includes a couple of web cams, one is situated from my home overlooking the city of Presque Isle called the scenic cam another, quite popular, is the Eye on Presque Isle  cam overlooking a portion of main street in Presque Isle.
